What are the different causes of acidity?
Acid production in the stomach is a normal phenomenon in all human beings, and the stomach environment remains acidic all the time. This acid plays many roles, such as helping in the breakdown of proteins and also helping in killing germs entering the stomach with food.
However, if the acidic production exceeds the amount, it causes problems such as burning, acidity, and gastric pain.
Following are some causes of overproduction of gastric juices or acid, called hydrochloric acid.
- Consuming too much spicy or acidic food
- Eating too much quickly
- Swallow food without proper chewing. This also puts pressure on the stomach to crush the food. So, stomach walls secrete more acid to chew the food in the stomach.
- Some painkillers cause more acid in the stomach, such as NSAIDS. So, to prevent this side effect of medication, take an antacid medication before or with the painkiller.
- The stomach acid production also gets worsened by stress and anxiety. Most of the people who are under stress or anxiety usually have complaints of gastric pain.
- Some infections in the stomach trigger the overproduction of acid, such as H. pylori. So, if your test indicates this infection, please contact your health care provider to take proper treatment.

- If a person becomes unconscious, start cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). It is very necessary to initiate CPR because being collapsed OR unconscious means the brain is not getting enough blood. By starting CP, R, we manually pump the heart to provide blood to the brain and the other vital organs. Moreover, if the blood supply to the brain is stopped for 5 minutes, it will die.
