Leading causes of cancer are not well-known factors that directly cause cancer; it is understood to occur at the genetic level. However, certain factors have been strongly linked to an increased risk of cancer, as seen in case studies with strong correlations.

The following are some causes of cancer:

genetics:(leading causes of cancer)

Genetics plays a significant role in cancer risk. People with a family history of cancer are more likely to develop the disease. This is known as familial cancer. Certain types of cancer, like leukemia and breast cancer, are more common in families.

However, genetic mutations are unpredictable and unavoidable. Regular screenings such as breast examinations, ultrasounds, or mammograms can help with early detection and prevention. In some cases, individuals with a family history of breast cancer may choose to undergo a mastectomy as a preventive measure.

Diet:

The diet also plays a crucial role in cancer prevention. In ancient times, people consumed pure forms of food, which contributed to a lower cancer risk.

However, nowadays, most food in the market contains various chemicals and preservatives that can harm our bodies. Additionally, food with steroids can cause inflammation, which can be dangerous and lead to cancerous tissue.

Environment:

The environment plays a crucial role in maintaining a healthy life. It consists of air, water, and soil, all of which must be kept clean.

People living in natural, clean environments are generally healthier than those in industrial areas. In a natural environment, the air is clean and rich in natural oxygen, whereas in an industrial environment, the air is contaminated with dangerous chemicals harmful to human health.

Individuals in such environments often suffer from respiratory diseases such as asthma, bronchitis, chronic cough, and eye allergies. Inhaling these chemicals also increases the risk of developing lung cancer, skin cancer, and blood cancer.

Additionally, people who handle cytotoxic drugs like chemotherapy or radioactive material are at a higher risk of developing cancer. As it irritates cell structures upon contact with these drugs.

Furthermore, individuals employed in industries involved with lead, cigarettes, and plastic materials face a heightened risk of developing various types of cancer.

pesticides: (leading causes of cancer)

Most of the research has proven that pesticides are one of the leading causes of cancer. People such as farmers, dealing with pesticides, are at a higher risk of developing cancer as compared to those not in contact with such chemicals.

Furthermore, such crops, when coming in contact with such dangerous chemicals, also become toxic and harmful to the population’s general health.

Age:

Age is considered a risk factor for cancer. People of different ages are susceptible to different types of cancers. For instance, acute lymphocytic/lymphoblastic leukemia is common in younger people, while acute/chronic myeloid leukemia is more prevalent in older individuals.

Breast cancer is also more common in people over the age of 50. Additionally, older individuals who are consistently exposed to substances such as alcohol or cigarette smoke are at higher risk of developing liver and lung cancer as they age.

Alcohol consumption: cause of liver cancer:

“People who consume unlimited amounts of alcohol are at a greater risk of developing cancer, such as liver cancer and gastric cancer.

The chemicals in alcohol continuously irritate the cells in the gastrointestinal tract. Continuous exposure to these chemicals for a prolonged period can cause the cells to mutate and become cancerous.”

Smoking: cause of lung cancer:

“Continuous exposure to the same chemical can cause a cell to become cancerous. Similar to alcohol, cigarette smoke contains many harmful chemicals that damage cells in the airway. People who smoke for over 10 years are at a higher risk of developing lung cancer.”

How does cegratte smoke affect others?

Furthermore, people who do not smoke but are continuously exposed to smoking, especially at a young age, are also at higher risk of getting lung cancer. So, passive smoking should be discouraged.

Moreover, people smoking inside the house are harmfull for others. Smoking without proper ventilation should be discouraged, and children must keep themselves away from an active smoker.

Some types of infections:

Some types of infections are also connected with cancer, such as the human papillomavirus, which leads to cervical cancer in females if exposed to the HPV virus.

To prevent this HPV vaccine is available. However, Females at a younger age must be vaccinated with HPV to prevent cervical cancer.

Hepatitis B and C and Dengue Viruses:

People who are exposed to or contract hepatitis B and C viruses are at a greater risk of developing liver cancer later in life, so it is important to prevent these viruses.

Furthermore, some recent studies suggest that individuals exposed to the dengue virus may face a higher risk of developing blood cancer compared to those who have not been exposed to the virus.

Lower levels of vitamin D:

Vitamin D is thought to be an essential vitamin in the human body, playing vital functions in our body, including boosting immunity, bone health, and helping in brain functioning, and preventing depression.

Moreover, some studies suggest that lower levels of vitamin D can lead to certain types of cancer, such as breast cancer in females. So, keeping vitamin D levels in the normal range can prevent a person from major diseases inscluding cancer.

Exposure to ultraviolet radiation:

Radiations are as dangerous to human tissues when they come into contact unnecessarily. They are hazardous as cytotoxic agents, causing damage to the body at the cellular level.

So, avoid unnecessary radiation exposure. People work in places where there are several strong chemicals and radioactive substances. So, avoiding exposure to cytotoxic chemicals such as chemotherapeutic drugs or pesticides can prevent a person from getting cancer.

How to take care of oneself from being a cancer victim?

At last, the exact cause of cancer is unknown, but exposure to different chemicals, radiation, and other cytotoxins can increase the risk of cancer.

So, people should be more careful in dealing with chemicals and other irritants, which could have the potential to cause skin irritation or other dangerous symptoms, such as skin redness or rash.
